IMPACT Basketball Thanksgiving Tournament 2011 14U Division II Champions

A spare of the moment decision to do a Thanksgiving tournament paid off with Balboa winning the championship in their division. Coach Glen contacted the team a few days prior to the tournament to ask if anyone would want to participate. Well that's a question not need ask as the boys are ready to play at any given moment. The only spot available was in the Division II for the 14U age group. This was a great weekend starter to prepare for the upcoming tournaments Balboa's scheduled to play in. Balboa swept through the tournament with a record of 4-0. Once again great job to all the Balboa Players, Coaches and Parents.

Video highlights coming soon....

ARC FALL 2011 ACC I 14U CHAMPIONS

After 3 seasons in the ARC League, Balboa’s captured 2 championship wins. This season was exceptionally more challenging considering 14 teams were on the bracket. The playoffs had to be separated into two divisions based on wins. Balboa was seeded at number 3 with 6 wins and 2 losses to end the season. In total 9 wins including the championship game. The team faced some outstanding opposition during the playoffs.

First, was Future Ballers which had some size against Balboa. But speed prevailed this day as the boys were able to cruise to a 48-19 win. Second was Playmakers. A superb shooting team that could never be underestimated as the boys found out earlier in the season when they were handed their first lost. Even after trailing by double digits to catch up, time ran out; loosing by 2 pts. The boys couldn’t wait to have the opportunity to play them again. This time the boys were prepared and played some outstanding defense. In which they held Playmakers to 25 points. Opposite of the 30+ during the regular season against other teams. Taking the win 38-24 and moving onto the championship.

The main stage was against GYGR. This team was stacked in which they had both size and shooting skills. Off the gate the boys were focused on the task at hand. Execution was key and execute they did. Shots where dropping, lay ups falling, blocks were happening, everyone showed up to play. Their hunger showed on the floor as they battled their way to a 54-43 win.

This playoff & championship game by far was the best team basketball Balboa’s played to date. Playoffs and championship games are more memorable when you play against a worthy opponent. These teams are more than worthy. Outstanding clubs that is well coached and is a highly competitive caliber type teams.
